Finding Your Superpower

Your superpower helps shape your personal brand. Your personal brand precedes you in networking. When aligned, both shape the quality of your relationships.

Six (and soon to be seven) planets are currently aligned in the sky. It’s a fascinating astronomical event with a rare two-month viewing opportunity that's visually stunning for both astronomers and skywatchers alike. But it’s more than science — astrologically, it’s filled with symbolism.

It reminds us that when powerful forces align, they amplify each other. That’s not just true in the heavens, it’s true in us as well.

Each of us has unique talents, instincts, and lived experiences. But when those parts remain scattered or unexamined, our full potential stays hidden. When you align your strengths with your values, and your presence with your purpose, you find your superpower — and the world begins to experience you differently.

Your Superpower is More Than What You Do

Your superpower isn’t just what you’re good at. It’s how you make others feel, how you build trust, and how your presence lingers after the conversation ends. It’s the foundation of your personal brand — and your most powerful asset in networking.

People don’t remember bullet points from your résumé. They remember the energy you bring, the clarity you offer, the way you made a complex problem solvable, and the way you made others feel. When you network with that in mind, you shift interactions with others from one-night-stand transactions into long-standing relationships.

What Alignment Looks Like in Action

Jami McKeon, Chair of Morgan Lewis, didn’t become a respected global leader simply by being a great lawyer. Her superpower is steady, emotionally intelligent leadership — especially in high-stakes situations. She’s known for building trust, mentoring with purpose, and making bold decisions calmly. Those traits aren’t just good for leading a firm — they make her unforgettable in every room she enters. Her network is drawn to her because of who she is, not just what she’s done.

Here's an unexpected example - Keanu Reeves. His alignment is quiet but powerful: a public figure known for action roles, yet his superpower is humble authenticity. He is generous, grounded, and present. That’s why fans love him, but also why collaborators respect him. He’s built a brand — and a broad network — around trust and consistency.

Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo, is an outstanding example of purpose-driven alignment. Her superpower wasn’t just vision — it was knowing how to globally rally people and teams around a shared, human-centered purpose. She took bold stances on health, sustainability, leadership, and diversity that aligned with her business acumen and cultural values, making her unforgettable.

Even outside of public figures, alignment shows up in your circles — the colleague who always brings clarity and a sense of purpose to meetings, the friend who instinctively connects people, the mentor who quietly lifts others. These are all forms of superpowers in action, and each one builds trust and opens doors.

Finding (and Networking With) Your Superpower

The good news: your superpower isn’t something you have to invent. You’re likely already using it — just not consciously, or not often enough. Once you identify your superpower, you’ll stop dreading networking — because it no longer feels like performance. It becomes an act of alignment. You're not trying to be memorable. You are memorable simply by being consistent with your core strength.

To begin finding and aligning your superpower, ask yourself:

  • What do people come to me for? A calming moment? Insight and clarity? Advice and inspirational momentum?
  • When do I feel the most confident and most helpful?
  • What values drive the way I show up?
  • What part of me makes people trust me, and how can I lead with that?

The answers to those questions also help shape your personal brand, and your personal brand, in turn, influences the quality of your relationships, both professionally and personally.

How To Use Your Superpower With Intention

Once you identify your superpower, put it to work:

Name it: Write it down in your own words. “I create clarity where others see complexity.” “I see what others miss.” “I bring calm in high-stress environments.” “I bring energy when others stall.” “I am a chameleon, able to work with anyone on their terms.” Naming it makes it real.

Claim it: Own your role as a force of impact. That doesn’t mean being flashy. It means being intentional about how you show up. And don’t downplay what comes naturally. What you do effortlessly may be what others struggle to find. Do not hesitate to ask those around you what they believe your force of impact may be.

Aim it: Use it in how you connect. Your emails, your coffee chats, your introductions — they’re all opportunities to reinforce the version of you that people want more of. Be direct about it. Put it to use where it matters — at work, in your community, in relationships. Alignment without action is just theory.

A Planetary Invitation

This real-life planetary alignment lasts only for weeks, but your alignment and superpower can last a lifetime. This is your invitation to pause, reflect, and consider how you show up — not just to yourself, but to others.

Because when you align your values, talents, and presence, you don’t just feel more powerful. You become someone others want to know, trust, and follow.

That’s your superpower. And it’s time to step into it.
